Why take structured guitar lessons?

There's a ton of clips and snippets on the web about how to play guitar, but we found it difficult to make real progress without an organized method of learning that ties it all together. While easy guitar tabs are helpful in learning how to play new songs, they are limited in that they will not develop your understanding of how music works or your ability to improvise on guitar.

  • Putting guitar effects in order...

    As a general practice, the arrangement of guitar effects is shown in the diagram below. Signal and gain devices (compressors, preamps, distortion) should be put first in the chain followed by coloring effects (chorus, flanging, delays, etc). The rationale being that the coloring effects are best at consistent levels.
